Halloween on the Shelves
***public post***
Subtly trying to take photo's with the camera phone in Michaels left me with some blurry images sorry about that. One endcap and one section of shelves for the Halloween swag was out at my store today.

Portland Hallowe'en Bazaar 9/27/08
***public post***

I had a hard time loading the myspace page so I'm linking the entry on
craigslist with contact information. Someone got back to me via the e-mail listed within minutes about sending out an application packet via snail mail today. If I can work this in to a busy season it would be a good chance to do a fundraiser for the The Cody Reuwsaat Memorial Trust since FrightTown was the last haunt he designed for in 2007. Good opportunity for local artists and hopefully some excellent shopping. Please pass on the info to any Pacific Northwest folks who might be interested.

Halloween Update
***Public Post***
Halloween 2008 has arrived! Keep an eye on the What's New page for items like this cute Witch Apron. New table linens will be up next. I was so happy to find a new line of paper plates, napkins, and decorations with bats and skeletons. Can't wait to share those with you in July. By the end of summer the clearance section will start filling with discontinued and one of a kind items.

Signed Brian Froud Dark Crystal item on Ebay
***Public Post***
Unusual Brian Froud piece signed up on ebay. While completely overhauling my office I'm finding some gems that really need to go on a fans wall instead of on a shelf gathering dust.

Earth Day Progress Report
Last year we pledged to:

To never us another plastic water bottle-we did pretty good with this one. Bought aluminum bottles. Got stuck a few times. Made the effort to get water in a cup that could be brought home and recycled if we were caught without our own water source.

Not bring home plastic bags-All the grocery store chains in town last earth day offered either 99 cent or $1.99 fabric or recycled plastic tote bags. We have enough now to keep extras in the car and by the back door. Its easy to grab one and go.

Compost-We got more aggressive about composting all organic matter. Hubby just worked in some of that new soil in to the garden this spring.

This year:

Worms: We made a worm box last year and didn't order the worms so we want to try composting with worms.

Stop the take out waste: We always bring home food we didn't eat at a restaurant but then had containers to toss. On Oprah's earth day show today I was delighted to find out there are take out containers that look like Styrofoam made out of sugar cane! Going to hunt these down.

Local Resources: This year we started buying soap from a local soap maker and we are trying to find more local organic products.

Cut down on toxic products: Tried some of the Seventh Generation products and liked the shower cleaner. I use hand sanitizers when I can't wash before testing blood sugar. There are now several no-alcohol brands that use essential oils as an anti-bacterial agent. Going to make the switch.

Carbon Footprint: With the cost of gas it isn't hard to stay home. We started grouping trips so we use a grocery store next to a home improvement store. Walgreen's is building a new drug store a mile from my house. Going to switch prescriptions to that store so I can walk to pick up drug store items.

Robert Cody Reuwsaat 1979-2008
***Public Post****
This is my first public post about the passing of a really great guy.
News Story
Today would have been his been 29th birthday.
Not the best photograph with my little camera but the only one I have of Cody from C-13 in the Vendor's room.

The Zoo Bomber group is planning a memorial tonight down on the river where they will be setting a fiery viking ship on its watery course to honor Cody.

Breakfast with Crows
***public post***
The sound of the back screen door opening brought a crow perching on a branch just over the porch. Hubby was going out the door and I heard the Caw! Hubby: Um...your crows are here. Its so bloody cold I had 3 pairs this morning eating peanuts. The fountain is the only water source not frozen so I keep topping it off too. Couldn't find the crow in the tree photo's so you get summer crow in birdbath.
